Epitalon + GHK-Cu

Overview

This collection pairs two peptides studied at very different levels. Epitalon (also written AEDG, after its four amino acids) is studied for how it influences telomerase — the enzyme that maintains the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes — and pineal-gland function. GHK-Cu, a short copper-binding peptide, is studied for its role in the extracellular matrix, the scaffolding that holds skin and connective tissue together.

The two represent two distinct threads of research — study at the cellular and genetic level on one hand, and at the tissue level on the other.

The Components

Bioregulators

Epitalon

A four-amino-acid peptide (sequence: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed by Russian researcher Vladimir Khavinson. Over 25 years of published research has examined its effects on telomerase — the enzyme that maintains the protective caps at the ends of DNA — and on the pineal gland.

GHK-Cu

A three-amino-acid peptide that naturally binds copper (sequence: glycyl-histidyl-lysine). Decades of published research look at how it affects skin cells, collagen production, and the extracellular matrix that holds tissues together.

Why This Combination

In cellular studies, research suggests Epitalon influences telomerase activity and telomere length — the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes that normally shorten with age. This work was first documented by Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. The proposed mechanism runs through the pineal gland and its influence on the body’s hormonal rhythms.

GHK-Cu works at a completely different scale. Inside skin cells (called fibroblasts — the body’s collagen-producing cells), research suggests it shifts gene expression in ways research-suggested to influence collagen and glycosaminoglycan production (both key to tissue structure), with research also examining its role as a copper carrier in the cell’s antioxidant defences. Together, the two peptides cover both the cellular and the structural-tissue sides of this research.

Research Notes

Epitalon has 25+ years of Russian clinical research behind it, with Western studies now starting to appear in mainstream journals. A 2017 paper confirmed the peptide occurs naturally in pineal tissue, and a 2025 review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences summarised current research. GHK-Cu has one of the deepest clinical literatures in the peptide field — decades of studies, mostly in dermatology. Neither peptide is approved for therapeutic use in Australia.

How Researchers Use This Collection

Research in this area typically tracks blood IGF-1 over time, 24-hour melatonin rhythm measurements, and telomere length (where the lab can afford the assay). For GHK-Cu specifically, researchers also use skin biopsy measurements of matrix proteins and clinical skin assessments.

Storage & Handling

Store at 2–8°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Refrigerate once in solution form.
